Annnnd, we’re off! Chris and I leave bright and early tomorrow morning for a week’s worth of white Christmas-ing with my family in Minnesota. We’re taking the scenic route, and road-tripping through parts of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and one of the Dakotas (haven’t picked which one yet), before ending up in the southern suburbs of the Twin Cities. I could not be more excited to spend a whole week with my niece, my parents, and my sister’s family, and hopefully see a few friends while we’re there.
The timing is fun for me because the day we leave for this trip (Friday, December 21) will mark two years to the date to the day we first arrived in Portland from Boulder, Colorado. We left Boulder on December 19 and made the two-day trek west, finding ourselves stuck on snow-covered highways more than once. That could’ve been really annoying, but it was actually really magical and one of the most memorable parts of that move and our relationship as a whole. Lunar eclipse. Full moon. Winter solstice. 45th parallel. Magic.
It makes me ridiculously happy to think that we’ll be traipsing a similar (though slightly more northern) route again, at winter solstice, during a full moon, for the holidays. Love.
I have no plans to post anything new until after the holidays, but who knows. If I take a photo or two I like, I might share them here. Until then, Happy Solstice, Happy Holidays, and Merry Christmas! Here’s to whatever you celebrate, that it brings you joy, and surrounds you by those you love.
